On Monday, organizers for Bésame Mucho Los Angeles, a one-day Latin music festival, announced the event’s cancellation less than a month before festival gates were set to open.
Bésame Mucho Los Angeles was scheduled to take place at Dodger Stadium on Dec. 21, with five headliners across its four stages: Shakira, Enrique Iglesias, Pitbull, Los Tigres del Norte and Banda MS. Before the festival was canceled, general admission tickets were still on sale at $345, Rolling Stone reported.
The announcement arrived a month after Shakira said she was postponing her fall 2024 tour to 2025 to switch from arenas to larger stadium venues.
In a post shared on Bésame Mucho’s website and social media pages, organizers wrote that they were “heartbroken” by the decision to cancel the festival, which they attributed to forces beyond their control. Bésame Mucho will refund tickets purchased directly from the festival, according to the post.
“We take great pride in our annual celebration of exceptional music and culture, connecting generations in a way no other event can,” the festival’s organizers wrote. “After working tirelessly all year to bring you another unforgettable show in December, we are deeply disappointed to share this news.”
In 2022, Bésame Mucho’s first Los Angeles festival sold out within 12 minutes. Noting the festival’s cross-generational appeal, NBC declared that Bésame Mucho “created a cultural moment.” After the second festival in 2023, LA Taco called it “the best Latino music festival right now.” In March, Bésame Mucho launched a Texas spin-off festival in Austin.
Despite the Los Angeles festival’s cancellation, it appears that Bésame Mucho Austin 2025 is set to go on. Last week, organizers released the lineup for Bésame Mucho Austin 2025, which features Peso Pluma and Carin León.
