Brian McDonald, a 23-year-old from Van Nuys, has been sentenced to more than 20 years in prison after trafficking fentanyl-laced pills and cocaine across the country, causing one overdose death.
From 2021 to 2023, McDonald orchestrated the sale of more than 12 kilograms of fentanyl through dark web operations.
He entered a guilty plea on counts of drug trafficking and possession of a firearm.
Using darknet marketplaces, McDonald sold drugs in return for cryptocurrency, with accomplices assisting in the packaging and shipment process. His associate, Ciara Clutario, from Burbank faces sentencing in January 2025.
