A Los Angeles freeway was scattered with boxes of french fries after a semi-truck crash on Thursday morning, leading to a cleanup operation that lasted around six hours.
The accident occurred at about 3:19 a.m. PT on Interstate-5 southbound, as reported by the California Highway Patrol’s Southern Division in an X post. Initially, the CHP estimated that it would take about two hours to clear the scene, but the lanes remained closed until 9:30 a.m. PT, according to a police news release.
The extended cleanup was necessary due to numerous boxes of french fries and diesel fuel covering the lanes, KTLA 5 reported. The Los Angeles-based TV station noted that piles of french fry boxes were strewn across the freeway, causing the prolonged closure.
